Committees
Getting involved as UUCC is never a problem. Here is a list of our committees with brief descriptions or links to the committee page if it’s available. If you would like more information, including contact information, see the monthly newsletter or email office@uuccglenallen.org.
- Adult Faith Development - Learning opportunities of all kinds for adults in the congregation.
- Adopt-a-Highway - Adopt-a-Highway is a project for people to tidy the road adjacent to our building.
- Auction Committee - Hosts our annual auction, a social and major fundraising event.
- Board of Stewards - Manages affairs of the church.
- Book Ends – Monthly book group that meets to discuss work from varied genre.
- Building and Grounds Committee – Maintains the UUCC building and grounds.
- Care Committee - Provides care to friends and members of the church who are in need.
- Choir - Provides beautiful music to the congregation.
- Committee on Ministry - Assesses the quality of ministry in the Congregation, serves as a supportive presence for the Minister, and is one communication channel between the Minister and the congregation.
- Communications Committee - The communications committee manages the church media outlets.
- Fellowship Ministry - Facilitates the social hour after Sunday services, organizes monthly fellowship events, and arranges refreshments for other church events such as day long retreats, Canvass and the Auction.
- Finance Committee - The purpose of the Finance Committee is the wise management of UUCC’s financial resources.
- Garden – A vegetable garden using sustainable practices is tended by UUCC members to provide fresh produce for those in need.
- Leadership Council – Leadership Council manages the program side of church life.
- LinkTank (pdf) - Links current and future volunteers with resources needed to enhance their roles at UUCC.
- Lunch Bunch - Participants bring a bag lunch and enjoy light discussion and reminiscences.
- Marketing Committee – Creates strategies to spread the news that our liberal Unitarian Universalist faith offers a religious home to the public.
- Membership, Ministry of - Our vision is to have an active, growing membership and to welcome each and every new guest who visits UUCC.
- Nominating Committee - The UUCC Nominating Committee presents candidates for the Board, treasurer, and the next year’s Nominating Committee to the congregation.
- Operating Council – The Operating Council manages the church’s finances, property, and human resources. It acts as a bridge between the various groups and the Board of Stewards.
- Panera Bread Project- Leftover bread at Panera is picked up and delivered it to various shelters around the city.
- Personnel Committee - The Personnel Committee is responsible for administering the UUCC Personnel Policy Manual for all non-ministerial staff.
- Play Readers - Reads plays together. Open to all. No auditions!
- Religious Education Committee - The RE Committee is committed to creating a welcoming place for our youngest members where they learn to celebrate themselves, each other and the diverse world around them.
- Shady Grove Coffee House - Musical outreach to the community.
- Social Action Ministry (SAM) - Putting UU faith into practice at UUCC and beyond.
- Stewardship Committee (Canvass) - The Stewardship Committee organizes and carries out our church’s annual March Canvass to request and receive a pledge of financial support from every member and friend of UUCC to support a budget for our church’s next fiscal year.
- Ushers - Greet people and hand out orders of service on Sunday mornings.
- Ways & Means Council - Reviews and oversees all fundraising activities for the church.
- Worship, Ministry of - Supports the spiritual and intellectual life of the congregation by creating, coordinating, and presenting worship services in collaboration with the minister and guest speakers.
- Yard Sale - Organizes the fall and spring sales as a church fundraiser and to provide inexpensive items to our neighbors.
