Minister’s Welcome Letter
We are so glad that you are considering a visit or return visit to the Unitarian Universalist Community Church. We are an open and welcoming community of people who seek to learn and grow and work and play together.
If you are coming from another faith tradition or from no religious background, you will find that our Sunday morning services are greatly varied. While many faith traditions consider themselves “people of the book”, we Unitarian Universalists consider ourselves “people of the library”.
This means that on a Sunday morning our service might focus on traditional spiritual teachings or it may focus on wisdom prophetic women and men, the important ethical issues of the day or the seasonal rhythms of life and nature. You might consider visiting a few times to gain a deeper understanding of Unitarian Universalism and of this particular community.
We are a diverse community honoring the wisdom of the very young and the very old. We encourage learning and personal growth, just as we encourage commitment and action to help build a more just and loving society both within the Richmond area and within our larger world. And we enjoy being together, gathering strength and joy from shared experiences.
We hope you will find within this community a place for spiritual exploration, for challenge, for respite from the world, for comfort, for renewal. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or the church office.
With warmest regards,
Terre
