Gather with like-minded folks in our diverse Unitarian Universalist community

Our fun and social groups offer a chance for folks to get together and engage in stimulating discussions. They are perfect for new members and friends of the church who want to expand their social networks. You will find that we are gamers and book lovers, but also walkers and gardeners who love to get outside together! Ask a greeter on Sunday about the groups below. This is just a sampling!

Hiking Club

Monthly hikes build physical stamina and strong relationships. Grab your walking sticks and head out with this outgoing crew to enjoy wondrous wildlife and spectacular vistas. The group hikes challenging trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains and easier trails along the James River or Central Virginia parks.

Get involved in this new group and establish solid friendships through great discussions. Find out more when you come to our church on Sunday. Ask the greeter, who is in the men’s group?

Regular meals together help build bonds with other church members. Newcomers, give the UUCC office a call to find out about the next meeting of this monthly group.

Shady Grove Coffee House

Attend live concerts at our Unitarian Universalist Community Church and get to know acoustic music lovers among our members and folk fans in the Richmond area.

Biking Group

Considering a bike ride?  It’s more fun to head out together. Bikers explore Central Virginia and beyond with us. Need a friend to ride the Capital Trail? Ask how you can join in the activities.

Flower Fairies

Yes, we believe in fairies — the kind that beautify our church with seasonal flowers and branches. If you arrange flowers or want to learn, join this magical team of creative gardeners. More fairies, more magic!

On Zoom

Mindful Mondays Group

This is a committed group of UUCC members and friends who share weekly meditations, readings, and deep discussions on mindfulness.

Book Club

UUCC has fostered a friendly group of avid book lovers for many years. Now it meets monthly on Zoom with occasional in-person gatherings.

And don’t forget to explore our lively and sociable music and arts groups! Newcomers often start with these groups while deciding whether UUCC is a fit for them and then never leave. Plus, we have small groups for spiritual sharing and growth that run over several months and are led by our minister, RE director, and lay leaders.
